The Nokia X7 is one of the front-runners of Symbian Anna, a major overhaul bringing portrait QWERTY input, improved browser and a refreshed design to the Symbian^3 platform. But the X7 is also a media-centric device with a premium feel and a 4-inch AMOLED screen. It's also one of the latest high-end Nokia handsets running Symbian, so it deserves some special attention.
The Nokia X7 first leaked out in November 2010, but since then it's been through a bumpy ride to the market. In December, it appeared with AT&T branding and seemed set for a Stateside release, but only a month later either the carrier or the phone maker decided to cancel that partnership, so the device wouldn't appear subisdized in the States, at least initially. The Nokia X7 however was finally made official in April heralding the all-new Symbian Anna, previously known as PR 2.0.
It isn't 3D capable like the LG Optimus 3D or the upcoming HTC Evo 3D, but it has an 8MP camera, super video playback and, at first glance, plenty of storage capacity.
For completeness, other relevant specifications of interest include:
Elsewhere, the X7's software package is very similar to that in the C7 - and indeed to the N8 itself, minus the Quickoffice editing functions. Multimedia playback is as good as on the other devices and definitely enhanced by the presence of such a large screen and a decent 'sound system' - if you're after a Symbian smartphone to watch movie clips and TV programmes on then this is as good as it gets.
With more powerful processors powering the rivals, the 680MHz, ARM11 processor does feel a bit lightweight. 256MB of RAM isn’t a lot either, making us wonder if Nokia were focusing more on specs – manufacturing price bit, rather than the actual performance. This phone is available in the market in Rs 23,000.

Software and initial concluding thoughts
Taken as a whole, Anna is a definite improvement - and it should be borne in mind that these are just obvious changes - there will be plenty of under-the-hood tweaks, fixes and optimisations too. Of course, with Anna set to come to all existing Symbian^3 handsets (N8, E7, etc.) very shortly, there's little reason to go and buy the X7 just to get your hands on Symbian Anna - all that's required is a degree of patience. However, for new X7 owners, at least they'll be starting off with the latest and greatest Symbian build yet - and they should have few complaints as a result.Elsewhere, the X7's software package is very similar to that in the C7 - and indeed to the N8 itself, minus the Quickoffice editing functions.
