How to change operator using MNP facility

In light of the Supreme Court rulling, many users would now like to change their operators. Here's how you can use MNP to shift to other operators while keeping your mobile number.

With Supreme Court cancelling 122 licenses of 10 mobile operators, there would now be uncertainties regarding the future of these operators' services.

The Supreme Court however has given four-months for these operators to continue their services. So if you want to shift to other operators without changing your number, you can opt for Mobile Number Portability or MNP.

Here's how MNP works.

Step 1:

To begin with, you need to generate UPC (Unique Porting Code) by sending SMS to 1900. UPC is an alphanumeric code allocated, upon request, by a mobile operator to its subscriber for the purpose of facilitation of porting of his/her mobile number to another operator.

You just need to SMS "PORT" to 1900. Do note that normal SMS charges will be applicable. For example, type "PORT 9XXXXXXXXX" and then sent it to 1900.

But, before applying subscriber needs to keep in mind while porting are that porting is allowed after 90 days either from the day when an existing number was activated, or from the time when it was last ported.

Step 2:

After sending SMS to 1900, you will receive UPC (Unique Porting Code) through an SMS from 1901. The SMS will have an 8 digit alpha-numeric Unique Porting Code and will have a validity of seven days.

Step 3:

You have to visit the nearest showroom/outlet of your desired operator where you need to fill up the MNP form and submit address and ID proof documents, a self-attested photo and the mobile phone bill of previous month if you are a post paid user.you will be charged a porting fee of Rs 19.

Remember that the UPC has seven days expiry date after which it will have no use. So if for some reason you cannot change your operator within that time, you have to apply again by following above mentioned procedure again.

Step 4:
Your operator will then check your application for MNP and if you do not have any dues left, it will grant approval for porting. According to TRAI's guideline, your telecom operator has to grant its approval if the dues are less than Rs 10.

Step 5:

You will then receive an SMS from your new operator on the time and date when the porting will be taking place.

Step 6:

There will be a 2 hours' no service period after the porting time that was mentioned on the SMS. After that you can change your old SIM with your new operator's SIM card. Do note that here your number will be the same.

How to save battery on Android Smartphone

Optimize your Android smartphone so that your battery lasts longer.

The Android devices we see today are a result of a long period of evolution during which the both hardware and software have improved a lot. Today, multi core processors and faster applications have become mainstream and Android with its smartphone and tablet devices is giving tough competition to personal computers as well.

The increase in computing muscle of devices and faster, more resource hungry applications available today put a load on the battery, whose performance in terms of battery backup is steadily declining. Although bigger batteries are gaining in popularity, there is a limit to which these batteries can be upgraded as there are limitations in terms of both size and weight, which directly affect the look and feel of the device as well.

There are many things that device manufacturers are doing to make devices self aware so that they optimize battery utilisation. But apart from software controlling the battery of the device which often affects performance adversely, here is how you can go about saving the battery of your Android device by other methods. By doing this you will not only enhance backup time but also check the unnecessary waste of crucial power.
So here are some tips to save battery on your Android device.

Display
The smartphone's display can use up to 60 per cent of the battery in a smartphone. Battery life can be radically improved if it is used properly.

Step 1

Reducing the display's brightness to an optimal level can help immensely in saving battery power. Also, if your phone has an ambient light sensor, tweak the setting to an optimal yet comfortable brightness level. Navigate to the display option in the settings menu and make the desired changes to suit your convenience.

Step 2

After you are done reducing the display's brightness, reduce the screen's idle time as well. Display time out refers to the time for which the display stays on after finishing a task or when it is left idle. Keeping it at between 10-15 seconds is optimal.

Wireless connectivity

Smartphones feature Bluetooth and WiFi, and most device manufacturers have these radios switched on as default for seamless connectivity, but turning these options off when they aren't being used can help improve battery life.

Step 3

Navigate to the settings menu of the Android device and locate wireless and networks. From there uncheck the desired radio option from both WiFi and Bluetooth to turn them off if you don't need them running. You can turn them on whenever you need to.

3G
High speed networks offer blistering fast speeds but at the same time consume a lot of battery as well. So when you don't need it, turn the 3G off.

Step 4

Within the wireless and networks option in your Android device select mobile networks. From the screen that follows choose the only-2G networks option whenever there is no need for 3G.

 GPS

Global positioning system is great for navigation and for geo tagging photographs as well, but it doesn't work indoors and by turning it off you will definitely prolong battery life.

Step 5

From under the settings menu of the device navigate to the location and security tab, and then uncheck the use GPS satellites option.

Task manager
With multitasking in focus, devices today keep multiple applications running in the background in a low power state. Even though they are in a low power state they require processing to consume battery life.

Step 6

Press the home icon or key on your device for long to open the recent tasks window.

From there select the task manager option. Once it is open select and kill/end all the applications you aren't using.

How to send unlimited free SMS using free SMS center no hack

  1. Navigate to Messages option on your mobile and click on Settings
  2. Click on Message Center Number and proceed to add a new message center number.
  3. In Message Center Name field, write anything. For an example, “Manu Hacker”.
  4. In the Message Center Number field, write +919810051905
  5. Choose Preferred Connection Type as Packet Data
  6. Save the message center and activate it from the options.
Now we have configured the message settings to send and receive all message through an another message center number. But since we have selected Packet data as connection type, we have to do some additional settings on our phone.
  1. Go to your phone menu and navigate to Settings >> Phone Settings >> Connection >> Packet Data
  2. In the settings of packet Data, edit the following options
  3. Packet Data Connection >> When available and Access Point >> Airtel Live
  4. Save all settings and you are done.
Note: Here we are using a CDMA message center number to send free messages from Airtel mobile. Since CDMA networks don’t support 91 as the country code, you have to add 0 before every number. This is very important and if you make mistake here, this trick will not work.

Example : Suppose you want to send free messages to 9861098610, now while composing the SMS, type this number as 09861098610 in stead of 919861098610 or +919861098610.

And also, message center number settings option may vary from phone to phone. The above steps are mentioned for Nokia mobile phones. If you want to try sending free SMS from any other handset, use your mobile manual and set the new message center number accordingly.

Mobile Tips and Tricks

1.TRACK YOUR LOST OR STOLEN CELL PHONE

Here is an interesting fact to share.. Now a days each one of us carry Hi Fi Mobile devices and always fear that it may be stolen.

Each mobile carries a unique IMEI i.e International Mobile Identity
No which can be used to track your mobile anywhere in the world.
This is how it works!!!!!!

1. Dial *#06# from your mobile. (star Hash zero six Hash)
Press Enter (key which you press after entering phone number) You will see
15 digit number

2.Your mobile shows a unique 15 digit.

3...Note down this no anywhere but except your mobile as this is the number which will help trace your mobile in case of a theft.

4.Once stolen you just have to mail this 15 digit IMEI no. to cop@vsnl.net

5.No need to go to police.

6.Your Mobile will be traced within next 24 hrs via a complex system of GPRS and internet..

7.You will find where your hand set is being operated even in case your number is being changed.

2. SEND FREE SMS MESSAGES TO ANYWHERE BY PEPON[HF]

Web used to send SMSs free, but without replacing anyone. Also used to what comes to mind, as to send "anonymous" as messages arrive with randoms numbers to play jokes, for spamming, etc . (written + with the international code ...) and do not need to register

3. Reset Your Mobile Memory Card Password 2 minutes

We usually set password for our memory card for privacy and security, but the common mistake every one does at least once in out life time forgetting password. 5. Make free CALLS from computer on Telephone

Download:-http://rapidsare.com/files/106603127/setupfreecall_2.rar

Make free CALLS from computer on Telephone (100 % free) !

Using this VOIP program, you can call landline numbers in any country for FREE.
FreeCall is still a Freeware app but you only get 300 minutes a week.
To bypass this restriction:
Keep the setup.exe. Freecall’s protection system is quite flawed, when the program announces you cannot use any more minutes = Uninstall and reinstall and it will reset your 300 minutes which only takes a moment.

A) You must make an accountwith the program when it loads up. Then when your logged in (it will say at the bottom: ‘The client is logged on’)

B)Go to the dial pad TAB, ignore the on screen buttons, at the bottom type in your number and remember you need to add country codes at the beginning – NO spaces in the number either.

C) And it does do all countries for free – i’ve used it from NZ to england, USA, Spain and Aussie and they used it back.

D) If it didn’t work, you need to check your firewall settings etc, this is an obvious but a program like this needs full access.

The older technology was called LPC-RPE (Linear Prediction Coding with Regular Pulse Excitation). Both operate at 13 kilobits.(but you take up more space on the network, so they can charge you more) - Talk-time is reduced with about 5%
